Childhood Ambition: Growing up, my ambitions were fairly simple - I liked to color and draw, shocker, I know. I also wanted to spend lots of time with my parents and siblings, especially outside.
Fondest Memory : Choosing a favorite memory is nearly impossible. But, any of the times my Dad and I sit and listen to music together are some of the best.
Proudest moment : I'm never more proud of myself than when I cook something completely from scratch. It's so exciting to create a meal from what seems like completely unrelated ingredients.
Biggest challenge : The biggest challenge in my life right now is balancing school, work, my family and friends, and my own personal artistic practice with a mere 24 hour day. But, that only prepares me more for my Lord-willing life as a mother and wife.
Alarm clock : I set about five alarms every morning because I'm prone to not hearing them. I prefer when I get up to the first or second alarm for 6 and 6:15 am.
Perfect Day : My perfect day starts at about 6 o'clock, where I went to bed about 10:30 the night before. I'd make my bed, get ready for the day and make myself oatmeal with strawberries and farm-fresh honey, maybe some cinnamon. I'd enjoy a cup of coffee while I watch the sun rise and listen to a devotion. Depending on where my life is on this perfect day, I'd get my children ready for school, making everyone, including my husband's breakfasts and lunches ready. Then, I'd likely spend my day taking care of the home farm, making dinner from garden to table. My later afternoon would be spent painting or sculpting, drawing, or possibly throwing on the wheel as I continue to pursue my art career. Finally, the day would end with enjoying a meal with my family, playing with my children outside, and going to bed at a decent time.
Indulgence : Baked goods are my weakness. I simply cannot resist a cookie or a fresh pie. I especially love things with fruit in them.
Favorite movie : If I had to pick one, "Dan in Real Life" would be high on the list, but I like way too many movies.
Soundtrack: I enjoy the soundtracks from "Garden State," "Dan in Real Life," and "Tron: Legacy."
Inspirations: My inspirations are my family, people, and to quote Scripture, "The Earth and everything that is in it." God has made so much beauty in nature and in people that I want to capture that life. I look to artists like Piranesi, Rembrandt, and John Singer Sergeant and their mastery of capturing the world.
My life is: My life is busy and full of so many blessings. I have family that reminds me constantly that they are my biggest fans. I get to make art and spend my days painting, which is really all I want to do. Simply put, I can't complain.
